All Interested Prospective Students
Who? Students interested in thinking ‘out of the box,’ working independently, conducting authentic research, working with professionals in your field of interest and receiving college credit!
What? Science Research is...
- A three-year course that provides students in 10th - 12th grades with the opportunity to conduct original science research.
- An outreach program of the State University of New York at Albany, and students in their junior and senior years can earn college credit.
- Independent study where students read scientific journal articles, contact scientists and engage them as mentors, develop hypotheses, collect and analyze data and eventually present their findings to their classmates, and at various local and international competitions.

How?
- November - March: attend Science Research program events (to be announced on Google Classroom).
- December: Join our Google classroom (code: 7aqcfgn) for important information and dates.
- January: Talk to your guidance counselor about adding Science Research to your schedule.
- February: Interested students and a parent/guardian should attend an introductory meeting on Zoom on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 6:30 PM RSVP link (Zoom link to be sent out).
- February 5, lunch, room 114: Come to an application FAQ session!
- March: Complete the application found in the Google Classroom by Monday, March 4, 2024.
Applications for the 2024-2025 school year are due March 4, 2024!

- December: You will start seeing and hearing announcements for the Science Research program application. Current students will visit your science class and information about how to get the application will be sent out on Schoology and Peachjar.
- January: Talk to your guidance counselor about adding Science Research to your schedule.
- January/February: attend Science Research program events and information sessions (to be announced on the Prospective Student website).
- February: Interested students and a parent/guardian should attend an introductory meeting on Zoom in the first week of February. The Zoom link will be shared via the application website. There will also be a lunch meeting for interested students to learn about the application process and be walked through what to do.
- March: Complete the application by the first week of March.
- April: Acceptance information will be sent to students, parents, and guidance counselors.
- June: Incoming science research students will meet with science research teachers to learn about the required summer project.
